The Radiologic Technology (RADT) program at Mountain State University (MSU) began in 2002 and has been one of the most successful programs at MSU.  This program is a two year program designed to prepare the student for certification in the field of Radiography.  As such, this data reflects those graduating classes beginning with the 2004 graduating class which entered in 2002. 

The RADT program is designed to handle a maximum class size of 25 students each year. During the first year, it was possible to accept only 50% of the applicants and in 2003 the number of applicants increased so the faculty was able to accept only 33% of the applicants.  Of those students that graduated from the program in 2004 and 2005, the graduation rate is 88% for the 2004 class and 52% for the 2005 class. 

Graduating students are required to take the national exam given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) to earn their Radiography certification.  Of the 2004 graduates, 100% took the certification exam and while only 61% passed on the first attempt, the cumulative pass rate is 91%.  Only 85% of the 2005 graduating class took the exam, of those, 100% passed on their first attempt.  Both the 2004 and 2005 graduating classes were above the national average of an 89% pass rate on the ARRT exam. 

The percentage of graduates who are currently working in the field is 95% from the class of 2004 and 92% from the class of 2005.  This shows that the program is successful in producing well trained graduates that are entering the workforce immediately after graduation.
